The Relationship Between Periodontics and Other Health ConditionsDid you know there is a connection between periodontal disease and other health conditions? It's true! Research has proved a link between gum disease and heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer. This blog post will explore the relationship between periodontics and other health conditions in more detail. We will further discuss how to protect yourself from the adverse effects of gum disease.

Heart Disease

Periodontics is the expert field of dentistry that focuses on the gums and bones around the teeth. Gum disease is a severe infection of these tissues, and it's been linked to an increased risk of heart disease. The bacteria from gum disease will enter the bloodstream and cause inflammation in the arteries, which can cause a heart attack or stroke. It will be vital to keep your gums healthy if you have heart disease; your dentist can help you with that.

HIV/AIDS

Periodontitis has shown to an increased risk of HIV/AIDS. It is because the bacteria from gum disease can enter the bloodstream and weaken the immune system. If you have HIV/AIDS, you must see a dentist or periodontist regularly to help keep your mouth healthy. AIDS will also make it harder for your body to fight infection, so good oral hygiene is even more critical.

Diabetes

It is a chronic health problem that affects how your body turns blood sugar into energy. Diabetic people are at an increased risk for developing periodontal disease. It is because diabetes can cause changes in the levels of glucose in your saliva, which makes it easier for bacteria to grow. Periodontal oral disease is an infection of the tissues and bones that support your teeth. If it is not treated, it can lead to tooth loss.

Our clinic offers excellent periodontic treatment. Our expert dentists are highly skilled and experienced and use the best technology to provide our patients with the best care.
