Brushing your teeth is an integral habit that you start when you are young. However, you have never considered whether you have used the right toothbrush to cater to your periodontal needs. Not all toothbrushes are appropriate for your dental needs. Therefore, here are some things to consider when getting a toothbrush:

The Bristles

When you are selecting your toothbrush, evaluate the Bristles. The thing you should especially consider is the firmness of the Bristles. Experts recommend that you get a toothbrush with soft bristles. Soft bristles do an excellent job of cleaning your teeth and are gentle to your gums. Firm bristles may clean your teeth but can damage your gums and teeth.

The Head Size and Shape

A toothbrush with a small head is the best for your oral health. This is because smaller-headed toothbrushes have better access to places in your mouth that may be tricky to access. Also, for the shape, dentists recommend getting a toothbrush with a round head because, with round heads, you have fewer angles to contend with when brushing.

The Grip

Dentists recommend that you brush for at least two minutes. Therefore, it is necessary to get a toothbrush with a firm grip. You can test the brushes before you buy them to ensure they have a good grip.

Should You Get An Electric Toothbrush?

Electric toothbrushes are recommended because they offer fast rotations, exceptionally cleaning your teeth. However, these toothbrushes are expensive to replace, and it may be unnecessary to incur these extra costs when brushing manually has the same effect as brushing electronically when done correctly.

In summary, ensure you get a toothbrush with soft bristles, a small round head, and a good grip. You may also consider getting an electric, but it is up to you to determine your preference.
